Determine moisture and hectoliter weight/test weight in all grains and oilseeds in only 10 seconds, enabling process standardization and profit optimization.

The AM 5300 Grain Moisture Meter uses the most up-to-date technology – 150MHz and UGMA – to provide significantly better accuracy than older radio frequency-based instruments. It analyzes grains, oilseeds, pulses, beans, lentils, seeds and more for moisture, test weight/hectoliter weight, and temperature.  With the simple touch of a button on the high visibility touch screen, results are available in under 10 seconds – enabling the perfect balance of speed and accuracy to ensure your operations run smoothly and you achieve optimal profitability.

The AM 5300 was designed to be rugged and dependable, yet responsive and agile enough to handle a wide range of sample types.  Made with sturdy metal sheeting and polymeric components, yet weighing only 18kg, the build quality of the AM 5300 extends instrument life and reduces damage potential during relocation and shipping.  Hardware features of the AM 5300 include:

  • The single piece cast measurement cell ensures accurate measurements of volume/density through precise control of cell dimensions. The RF electronics are built directly into the cell center divide to eliminate cabling, and removes impedance matching issues over time due to connector degradation.
  • A continuous strip of copper (6.8 in2) makes contact with hundreds of kernels for a precise sample temperature measurement over a wide temperature range. The large area/low mass means quick response times when there is a large disparity between room temperature and grain temperature, down to - 0.4F /- 18 C° F., enabling not only better accuracy, but also shorter analysis times.
  • A single, high-quality motor is used in the AM 5300, leading to longer instrument life and less down-time.
  • The door on the AM 5300 employs a gravity driven self-cleaning firm "snap action" close, which is designed to loosen any build-up of material on the lower door, ensuring accurate weight and volume measurements, and that cell volumes will not change as a result of dust-build-up.
  • Sample strike-off is critical to controlling flow of product through the instrument. The AM 5300’s design minimizes debris build-up in the instrument using several guides and a brush to direct grain to the collection drawer so that grains are not sprayed throughout the interior.
  • The AM 5300 incorporates an automatic locking of the transportation lock when powered off, with subsequent automatic release at power on, securing safe transportation and movement of the instrument.
  • The AM 5300 includes the most up-to-date electronics and software platforms including a Raspberry Pi CPU and Linux SW.  Configurable data output is achieved using USB or ethernet connections and our plug-and-play functionality mimics GAC © systems output for immediate replacement into existing scale software, LIMS, etc. An optional printer is also available.

The benefits of the AM 5300 extend beyond the physical instrument.  Perten's long experience designing and manufacturing whole grain analyzers has resulted in an optimized analysis procedure and workflow to simplify your processes and reduce training demands for operators. Users need only select the product once, and the instrument automatically begins analysis each time a sample is poured into the hopper. Not only does it speed up the analysis, it also saves wear on the touchscreen.

Further, calibrations are included with the purchase of the AM 5300, and the suitable calibration set is activated when the region is selected at installation of the AM 5300. Custom calibration development services are offered upon individual request.
